Look and feel your best

by KinCare — 23 April 2021

Some extra support with personal care tasks like showering, dressing, taking medication and maintaining your appearance can help you look good and feel good. It can also give your loved ones peace of mind about your health and wellbeing.

What is personal care?

Personal care is support you can request to help you feel confident with daily or regular tasks such as bathing, toileting, dressing, oral hygiene, taking medication and personal grooming. As you get older, some of these tasks can become challenging or overwhelming. A second pair of hands to support you in and out of the shower, button your shirt or brush your hair can improve your confidence and put the spring back in your step.

Support for personal care doesn’t just include daily tasks like showering or getting dressed. You can also access KinCare’s personal care services if you need help with weekly or less regular activities such as washing your hair each week or preparing the occasional meal to give yourself a break. No task is too small. Remember, it’s okay to receive help with what you may feel are smaller or easier tasks if it’s going to ensure you can stay living in your own home safely for longer.

Receiving help for small tasks can go a long way in improving your general health and wellbeing. With a little extra support in your day, you may notice improved independence, personal hygiene, and better strength, balance and mobility. Regular personal care support can also identify areas of unmet need where early intervention may be beneficial. All these can help improve your quality of life and support you to stay living independently in your own home.
