Worldly Wise – Get Connected

Our Let’s Connect Programme helps you learn how to use a tablet device, like an iPad to get online.

Programme manager Susan Hickson shares with us some of ways having access to the support of the programme can help.

“Facebook is something that a lot of people want to learn, it’s such a good way to keep up with the children and grandchildren.  We also teach a lot of people to use Facetime / Skype where you can make a video phone call on your tablet.

One lovely Customer I helped then Facetimed her best friend in England to show off her Australian garden in full bloom.

At KinCare we also have a telephone support line in case you get stuck, we help you every step of the way. I often help people who have ended up on a page and are not sure how, and could be feeling worried if they push the wrong button they may break something, we always reassure them and step them through the process slowly to build confidence.

Keeping you connected to family and friends

Knowing where to start with technology can be a bit daunting. That’s why we have designed Let’s Connect, an award winning social technology programme that supports you every step of the way. Our Let's Connect Customers find that our Home Care Workers make learning a breeze and love being able to connect, play games and keep up to date with news from the world and loved ones.

One of my favourite requests however was helping one Customer install the game Pokemon Go on his tablet.  This is a game where you go out and ‘catch’ virtual creatures in your neighbourhood – he wanted to play with his grandkids and they ended up having a wonderful time.

In fact a lot of our Customers like to play games that they buy online on their tablets. Understandably a lot of our Customers are a little concerned about entering banking details online, my top tip if you are worried is to purchase, or have someone help you access a pre paid iTunes or Google Play gift card to give you reassurance, they are available at most supermarkets from as little as $5” shares Susan.
