Veterans' nursing services provide personal care and nursing support to eligible veterans and war widows. This service is an Australian Government Initiative.
A Doctor, Hospital Discharge Planner or a regional assessor/coordinator contracted by the Veterans' Home Care Program can refer to this service. Any other person may also refer to KinCare’s service and KinCare will obtain the necessary referral documentation from an authorised referrer.
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs community nursing program provides veterans & war widows with community nursing care in their own homes. These services can include personal care, provision of medication, wound care, rehabilitation, pain management, assistance with mobility & other nursing services as required.
KinCare’s services are planned around the needs of each individual client. KinCare can provide services that meet special language, cultural, religious, dietary and other needs.
All KinCare staff have received specialised training to provide in-home care. Staff wear a uniform and photograph identification. All staff employed by KinCare must undergo police and working with children checks.
There are no fees to the client for this service for veterans Gold Card holders. This service may also be available to veterans White Card holders where the condition requiring nursing is a disability accepted by the Department of Veterans Affairs. This service is fully funded by the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
