The HACC Respite Program
The Home and Community Care Respite or HACC Respite program is a part of KinCare's Home and Community Care Program.
Who Can Refer for the HACC Respite Program?
Anybody can refer to this service.
What Services are Offered?
Respite care enables carers of the frail aged and people with a disability to take a meaningful break. This program is an Australian Government Program that partially funds the cost of respite care. Trained KinCare staff provide substitute care while the carer takes a break. Carers can take a break from a few hours on a regular basis to get out for personal time, shopping, community or social activities. Longer overnight breaks or breaks of several days can be arranged on a less frequent basis for social outings or holidays.
How Does the Home and Community Care Respite Program Work?
Home and Community Care services are available to the frail, aged, people with a disability and their carers. If the program is full, clients are waitlisted until a place becomes available. If places are available, a KinCare Program Manager will conduct an assessment. Program Managers will work with eligible clients to plan services that meet their needs.
Special Needs
KinCare’s services are planned around the needs of each individual client. KinCare can provide services that meet special language, cultural, religious, dietary and other needs. In NSW this service is targeted to the needs of carers with dementia.
What About Client Safety?
All KinCare staff have received specialised training to provide in-home care. Staff wear a uniform and photograph identification. All staff employed by KinCare must undergo police and working with children checks.
How Much Does the Home and Community Care Respite Program Cost?
A contribution is required towards the cost of providing this service. The fees are subject to a fee cap. Special consideration is available for clients who are assessed as financially disadvantaged. Contact us to find out more about the respite care options that are available to you.
What Areas Are Covered?
We offer the HACC Respite Program in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, south east Sydney and the ACT.
